Ashley Wilburn, a native of Hagerstown, Maryland, proudly hails from North Hagerstown High School, where she completed her secondary education. With a deep-rooted love for family law, Ashley's present legal practice revolves around various aspects of family law. She concentrates her practice on divorce cases, alimony issues marital property division, child custody battles and child support arrangements. She also deals with the post-divorce and enforcement of issues, step-parent adoptions and private party adoptions, as well as concerns about child welfare. In addition to family law, Ashley also handles estate planning matters, including trusts, wills, probate, and estate administration, as well as commercial contracts, civil litigation cases. Ashley has served as a mediator appointed by a court since the year and assists parties in helping them resolve their disputes without the needing court involvement. Ashley mediates private matters and also court-appointed mediation for individuals who want to stay clear of litigation and court processes.
After finishing her undergraduate studies at Loyola University of Maryland, where she received two Bachelor's degrees in History and Political Science, Ashley pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. After graduating in 2013, she excelled academically, placing among the top 10 students in her class. Ashley was an editor at the Western New England Law Review during her time at law school. This demonstrates her dedication to scholarship and research in the field of law.
Ashley began her clerkship journey after completing her law degree. She worked for renowned jurists from Connecticut and Maryland. She was privileged to be serving as a law clerk for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. In 2014 she returned to her home town of Hagerstown to clerk for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long at the Washington County Circuit Court, expanding her knowledge of the local legal landscape. Ashley joined Poole & Kane P.A. in 2015 as an associate attorney. as an associate attorney. Her main focus within the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services in cases dealing with child welfare. Ashley's dedicated efforts played a crucial role in helping children who suffered in the face of neglect or abuse at children's parents or caregivers. Her dedication to social justice went beyond the realm of law and she was active as a board member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force, which worked hard to increase awareness of human trafficking within the tri-state area.
In 2017, she was a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the areas of family law - divorce custody, child support and guardianships - aswell as estate planning - wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance directive/healthcare proxies - and mediation.
Ashley established Wilburn Law Office, LLC in 2023. The company was founded with a commitment to providing a personalized approach to every client's requirements.
